Requesting the CS Service on MIDAS
To request a Computer Science (CS) Account through MIDAS, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Log into MIDAS
Visit https://midas.odu.edu and log in using your MIDAS credentials.
Step 2: Check Available Services
- Once logged in, scroll down to the Services section.
- Click View Service Details.
- Under Personal Accounts, click More.

Look for Computer Science Account in the list.

If "Computer Science Account" appears:
You are eligible to request a CS account. Please follow the instructions for new accounts here: Requesting a New CS Account. -
If "Computer Science Account" does not appear:
Continue to the next step.
Step 3: Synchronize Services
- Return to the MIDAS landing page:
- Click the My Account dropdown in the top left.
- Select Account at a Glance.
- Under the Services section, click Synchronize all services.
- Check the list of accounts again (as in Step 2) to see if the Computer Science Account now appears.
Step 4: Check Optional Services
If synchronization does not resolve the issue:
- From the MIDAS landing page, click Active Optional Services (found under Services).
- Check if Computer Science Account is listed as an optional service.
- If it is, activate it and return to check the accounts list again.
Note: This is rarely necessary, but may help in some cases.
Step 5: Contact ITS
If none of the above steps work, you will need to contact ITS. Email itshelp@odu.edu
with a message similar to the one below:
Subject: Missing Computer Science Account Service on MIDAS
I registered for a Computer Science class and need to create a CS account, but my MIDAS account is missing the Computer Science Account service and I am unable to request it on the MIDAS Portal at midas.odu.edu. Please activate this service on my MIDAS account.
Once ITS activates the service, follow the steps for Requesting a New CS Account.
